Is CBD Based Skincare Right For Me?

May 7, 2020

By now, you’ve most likely seen an assortment of new emerging brands boast having CBD in their products. Why are people doing this, and should you even consider buying these products? We thought it was important to break these points down and show you why you might look to CBD based skincare the next time you are looking to add some new products into your daily skincare routine.

The Benefits of CBD Skincare

In one of our recent posts we talked a bit about this, but CBD (a.k.a. cannabidiol)  is a non-psychoactive compound found in hemp and marijuana. So whether you take it orally or put it on your body, it won’t get you high. With this, based on an article published by Dr. Joshua Zeichner, M.D., director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, CBD does have a powerful ability to support the immune system. This is why it can be helpful for soothing irritated, stressed-out skin—and skin trouble related to immune issues—when applied topically.

How Do I Know What to Look For?

Check to see that it’s made with CBD and see where it’s from.

Not all CBD products are created equal, so make sure to check the brand’s website to ensure that their CBD based products are made with quality ingredients. Like we said in a recent post, there are hundreds of CBD brands on the market but only a handful are truly transparent and provide customers with all the information they need to make a well-educated purchasing decision. Make sure to look to things like QR codes and lab results that fully outline what the brand’s products are made from.

With this, it also may sound quite intuitive, but make sure the product says CBD. You’d be surprised how many customers have asked us about this, as some companies boast that their products are made with the highest quality CBD, but don’t actually have CBD in it.  Make sure the product says CBD oil–  hemp oil and CBD oil are not the same thing.

Ask Your Dermatologist

As always, ask a Dermatologist if you aren’t sure that adding CBD into your skincare routine is right for you. They will be able to guide you in the right direction!  CBD based products can help many of your skincare needs from dryness to acne, but before you look to buy anything, make sure you know that the products will genuinely work for you!

For a list of our products and quality list, be sure to check out our lab results.
